Worship Information

Traditional Worship – 8:00 & 9:15am

There are two traditional-style services on Sunday mornings. Join us at 8:00 or 9:15am. You will have the opportunity to be engaged in God’s good news through speaking, singing, seeing, and hearing the word of God. Music includes traditional hymns and praise songs, as well as special music by a choir or individuals. Traditional worship is held in the Sanctuary, located on the upper level.

Contemporary Worship – 10:45am

The atmosphere for our contemporary service is casual, friendly, and relaxed. A praise team leads the music which focuses on Contemporary Christian praise and worship songs.  The Contemporary Service is offered Sunday mornings at 10:45 in the Family Life Center.

Nursery Care

Tender loving care is available in our nursery during all worship services.  Care is provided by volunteers who love Jesus and desire to share that love with young children through play, reading books, singing songs, and affection. There continues to be a need for volunteers in the nursery. There are openings at the following times: 7:50-9:00, 9:00-10:15, and 10:30-11:45.  Please contact Jessica Duncan, our children’s ministry director, in the church office if you have questions or would be able and willing to serve.

Communion

We have an open communion table, which means everyone can take part in communion. You do not have to be a member of the Shueyville Church or United Methodist Church to celebrate communion with us. Communion is held in both traditional and contemporary services on the first Sunday of every month.

Special Worship Services

Several times throughout the year we have additional opportunities to worship, both at the Shueyville Church and in conjunction with area churches.  Our local special services include:

  • Ash Wednesday
  • Maundy Thursday
  • Good Friday
  • Christmas Eve—December 24, 2011

We have two community worship services with St. John Lutheran Church, Ely and First Presbyterian Church near Ely.  They are an Easter sunrise service, and a Thanksgiving service.
